La Maison Couture | Selfridges | 2023

Handcrafted with high impact:

An exclusive pop-up for La Maison Couture at Selfridges, AMD Interior Architecture was tasked with transforming a retail space into a high-energy, analogue-fuelled celebration of expressive creativity. The result is a bold, sculptural environment where fine jewellery meets raw materiality — a space that feels both handcrafted and highly contemporary.

A celebration of craft.

At the heart of the concept is the use of Lokta paper, a richly textured, sustainable material traditionally handmade in Nepal. Sculpted into angular plinths and layered backdrops, the paper forms a striking stage for each jewellery piece, giving the installation an organic yet graphic identity.

Working with a single-material philosophy, the design ensures each product is framed with clarity and precision. The contrast between the tactile, irregular surface of the Lokta paper and the polish of the jewellery creates a tension that draws the eye — allowing each item to shine without distraction.
